so today was out running errands....
I know we have laws about using cell phones while driving,
I know that kids under a certain age and weight have to be in safety seats...
but DOGS can run around in the car freely---was following a car with a dog, the dog was running from window to window (the drivers window to the passenger window) ...while the person was driving!!! (it would stick its head out from each side)....so why can dogs be free in the car while just about everyone else has to be belted in? (and they are usually distracting the driver--the reason for no cell phones).
I was just waiting for the person to hit someone while the dog ran across its lap to see out the drivers window. You should no more have a dog in your lap while driving than a child.
(and then even worse--with the hot weather...people are still leaving dogs in the car while they shop).
rant for the day.

I never took a dog anywhere on my own except for once. I always made sure that someone else was in the car with me to make sure the dog wasn't distracting me. The one time I took the dog somewhere on my own was to take my parents German Shepard to the vet. She knew where we were going and just laid in the back giving me puppy eyes, begging me not to take her there. Of course then the vet visit sucked since they "had" to muzzle her because she has a history of nipping. She was fine until they tried to muzzle her then she flipped out. So ya. Never taking the dog to the vet by myself again. That is officially my dads job.

we had the same problem with the cat...the ONLY time it went in the car was to the vet...so yeah, she would freak out when she went past the front door...and by the time you got to the car, the neighbors would be looking at us to see what we were doing to the poor cat! (we never had a carrier for her as she ONLY went in the car to the vet, my dad tried once to take her someplace else, but that was a messy disaster!)
Always had to have 2 people to take her over, one to wrap her in the towel and keep her quiet while the other drove (and an extra towel or two after she ...well, had to be cleaned up as well as the person holding her ).
and then when you got to the vets...our cat HATED dogs and other cats, ....it was a feat to get her there and back (the visit would be the easy part even if she had shots and such). I think I still have the scars from one of the trips with her.

Our dog loves car rides. She just happened to hear my dad tell me I needed to take her to the vet. So she knew where we were going. Plus when we didn't turn left out of the subdivision she knew there was trouble. If we go left, it's fun, if we go right, it's the vet.
Our dog tolerates other animals. She is big, but she acts small sometimes. She will be afraid of the tiny yippie dogs and friendly with other dogs closer to her size. She is odd.

some of those tiny yippie dogs are pretty dang vicious! (your dog is right to be wary--my mother-in-laws dog got attacked by one of those types...so sometimes size is not always equal to viciousness!)
some of the big dogs are softies---great danes, golden retrievers, collies.... and some of the small ones are horrible--terriers, pinchers (mini or otherwise), pekingese (neighbor of mine when I was a kid had one of these, one of the meanest dogs I ever met!)....
so size is not usually an indication of behavior.
was nice out today...not too hot, and the humidity has lessened (woot!)

We had a Scottish Terrier for close to 13 years. That dog was not mean at all. She loved all of us and was pretty good with other dogs as well. The only time she "nipped" at another dog was when we got our German Shepard. The Scotty was 12-13 and not in great health (she had cancer...) and the Shepard just wanted to play, cause you know, puppy. But the Scotty still loved the Shepard, only growled at her when she was to tired to play. I still remember playing fetch with them in the yard. We would throw the ball and both would take off. The Scotty would stop about halfway to the ball while the Shepard ran all the way to it. The Shepard then ran back and the Scotty would bark at her until she dropped it. Then the Scotty would pick the ball up and trot back all proud of herself. Oh man I miss that dog...
Very hot the past couple days. We had a crazy storm fly through. Rain and hail for about 10 minutes. Temp dropped 20 degrees. Then right back up and even more humid after... Crazy crazy weather...

think your scotty was the boss dog there...('I said DROP das ball, frankfurter!'--now with a scottish accent to boot../rofl)...scotties are nice dogs (hubby grew up with one too), they seemed to have missed the terrier behavior that most of their group shows.
we had that as well, hail, thunder, power going out...wind, yep, temp dropped, didnt need to water my herbs today!
and eikki, hope your doggie has a good time with the other kai kens, and vet visits need to be a good experience for your pets (or you will learn the hard way like we did).

She most definitely was. And we loved that dog to death. I remember when I was in the hospital for my kidney surgery my dad would go home and find the Scotty laying on my bed. She pretty much never did that unless we were home, she seemed to know that there was something wrong with me. And she was extra excited when I did come home, a week alter.
We had a crazy storm come through last night. Just tons and tons of lightning. It was lightning so consistently it was like day time. Crazy. But no power outage, so yay there.

Sorry to hear that it was worse than a cold cosy. I'm hoping to avoid any illnesses this year. So we will see how that goes...
Had my first induction day this morning. Picked up my laptop, got my ID, and then sat in meetings all morning. Woo... 2 more full days of meetings Monday and Tuesday...

Probably more fun than having a battery of tests ran on me... That is never fun. If it makes you feel better I'm going to have to get my wisdom teeth, all 6 of them, removed in the next 6 months to a year... Yay?

ewwwwww. had 3 of mine removed back when I lived in Idaho--and the oral surgeon almost killed me because he didnt bother to read the information sheet you always have to fill out (you know the one with your parents info, grandparents etc, 'do you or anyone in your family have/had'...well, my whole family has issues with anesthesia ....never bothered to check that one out he didnt).
So yeah, I hope things go well for you! (hubby's dentist has been wanting him to have his removed for years,....saying they will get infected, get cavities etc, well, its been decades and NO cavities, NO problems=No removal for him, besides he HATES pain--he will pass out if I get a shot!)
so yeah, feel a bit better (just because I got 4 hours of sleep in a row!)

Dentists have no feelings. They cause you pain and just are like meh... Mine are apparently already starting to have problems and the fact that I have 6, not so good. So ya. Woo...
Good. Getting ready to start back up for the year at my new school. Going to be fun. How are you?
